2007 Events

As the RUBRIC Project draws to a close (completion date 31 December 2007), there is a final RUBRIC FOSTER Information Day to be held on 4 December at the University of Sunshine Coast.

This past year saw the successful launch of the RUBRIC Toolkit at !DEA 2007 held at the Brisbane Conference and Exhibition Centre. The launch was held on the last day of the conference on Thursday, 11 October.

Prior to this, representatives from RUBRIC took part in the MERRI at USQ - Roadshows

which showcased the RUBRIC Toolkit at the following venues:

  • Melbourne - at the Flinders St Conference Centre on the 16th August

  • Perth - at the University Club of Western Australia on the 20th August

  • Adelaide - at the Stamford Plaza Adelaide on the 22nd August.

2007 Other Events

Digital Preservation Management Workshop

This workshop held by Cornell University and organised by APSR was held in Sydney on 25 and 26 October

International e-Research Conference

The Legal Framework for e-Research Conference to be held on the Gold Coast on 11 & 12 July; funded by DEST (Department of Education, Science and Training).

EResearch Australasia

eResearch Australasia 2007 will be held at the University of Queensland, Brisbane from 26 28 June. This conference is supported by DEST and an initiative of MAPS and APSR .

The Adaptable Repository

A joint venture of APSR and ARROW that was held on 3 May at the University of Sydney. Presenters included Susan Gibbons, Associate Dean, Public Services and Collection Development at the University of Rochester - addressing issues of repurposing the repository to meet institutional needs.

EDUCAUSE Australasia 2007

29 April to 2 May 2007 in Melbourne. RUBRIC PPM Kate Watson from University of the Sunshine Coast presented a paper titled Supporting Knowledge Creation Using WIKIs for Group Collaboration.

The RQF Explained: Information Management and Repository Needs for the RQF

February 13, Sydney and February 14, Melbourne held in conjunction with ARROW and DEST. Team members of RUBRIC Central attended both meetings.

Both these events were held by RUBRIC Central for the RUBRIC Partner Project Managers.

Open Repositories Conference

23 26 January 2007, Texas, USA. Both Peter Sefton and Caroline Drury of RUBRIC Central presented a Poster presentation

30, 31 January and 1 February 2007, Sydney. Neil Godfrey of RUBRIC Central attended.

RUBRIC Central Retreat

7 8 December, Cedar Creek Falls Retreat Samford

RUBRIC Central conducted a Retreat for the RUBRIC Partner Project Managers. Topics included updates on the project so far, RQF readiness, copyright workflows, workflow procedures, repository sustainability, marketing and strategic planning for the remainder of the project.

RUBRIC Reports Day

12 October 2006, Melbourne held in conjunction with IDEA 2006.

The RUBRIC project partners reported on institutional repository best practices, solutions and issues. They also discussed the future of institutional repositories in Australia. View Conference presentation
